Supply Chain Management SVQ
Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) are the fastest growing alternative to traditional examination based qualifications. They are competency based programmes enabling you to incorporate learning with your day to day work without taking any exams.
The Supply Chain Management SVQ formally known as a Procurement SVQ starts at level 2 and goes up to level 5 and is designed for purchasing and logistics practitioners. Upon completion of level 4 or 5 with 3 years experience in a post of responsibility in the purchasing and supply profession you are eligible to apply for MCIPS which is full membership of The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
You start at the level most appropriate to your job scope Access our level decision tree (link to level flow chart)
Level 2 is for new entries into the profession or people working in a part time clerical role within the buying function. Level 2 overview.
Level 3 is for those people assisting in the procurement function such as assistant buyers and assistant contracts officers. Their role will include a wide range of purchasing practices but without the autonomy to make purchasing decisions. Level 3 overview.
Level 4 is for buyers and purchasing / contracts officers who have clear responsibility for managing the procurement of a group of goods or services. Level 4 overview.
Level 5 is for heads of procurement, procurement directors or category specialists who are tasked with producing the procurement strategy for their area of responsibilities.
