Supply Chain Management NVQ / SVQ

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) are the fastest growing alternative to traditional examination based qualifications. They are competency based programmes enabling you to incorporate learning with your day to day work without taking any exams.

The Supply Chain Management NVQ / SVQ (formerly Procurement NVQ / SVQ) starts at level 2 and goes up to level 5 and is designed for purchasing and logistics practitioners.
You start at the level appropriate to your job scope;

  • Level 2 is for new entries into the profession or people working in a part time clerical role within the buying function.

  • Level 3 is for those people assisting in the procurement function such as assistant buyers and assistant contracts officers. Their role will include a wide range of purchasing practices but without the autonomy to make purchasing decisions.

  • Level 4 is for buyers and purchasing/contracts officers who have clear responsibility for managing the procurement of a group of goods or services.

  • Level 5 is for heads of procurement, procurement directors or category specialists who are tasked with producing the procurement strategy for their area of responsibilities. At this level candidates must be working at a senior level and are regularly working at director level both internally and externally.

  • Upon completion of level 4 or 5 with 3 years experience in a post of responsibility in the purchasing and supply profession you are eligible to apply for MCIPS (Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply)
